Hepatitis Services
The Hepatitis Testing, Education and Vaccination (Hep-Tev) section provides counseling and testing for Hepatitis A, B, and C to at-risk community members. In addition, we offer vaccination for Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Influenza, and Tetanus/Diphtheria.
Our services are available by appointment on Saturdays from 3 to 5pm for everybody. Women can also come to the clinic's Saturday drop-in clinic from noon to 2pm. On Sundays we provide services by referral from 4-7:30pm.
Those interested in Hepatitis testing should call (800) 6-CLINIC between 1 and 2:30pm on Saturday for a same-day appointment.
Due to changes in the state budget, the Berkeley Free Clinic is now acquiring our vaccines from vaccine access programs run by GSK and Merck. If your monthly income falls below the value indicated in the table below, we ask that you bring in one of the following so that we can keep our costs down and our doors open at the Berkeley Free Clinic:
- Income tax form (pg 1 of 1040, 1040A or 1040EZ)
- Bank statement showing salaries and wages deposited by employer
- Documentation or pay stub for one month
- Unemployment award letter
- Social security, pension or veteran benefit statement
For more information about these documents or about the program in general, please visit: http://www.gsk-vap.com/patient-eligibility.html
If your income falls above the ranges outlined above or if you have health insurance, we ask that you finish your booster shots at your primary care physician's office. If you are unable to provide documentation but are under the indicated income level, please come in and we will figure something out.
Remember that one or two shots do NOT GUARANTEE that you won't get hepatitis A or B. Please come in on Saturday between 3-5 PM.
