All services at the Berkeley Free Clinic are provided by volunteers. Training is done at the clinic or by volunteer professionals. Each year, an estimated 180 people donate approximately 31,000 volunteer hours doing direct client service, administration, fundraising, building maintenance, trainings, and more.
If you would like to volunteer, or would like more information, come to a Volunteer Orientation held on the third Monday of every month at 7:30pm. The next Volunteer Orientations will occur on the following Mondays at 7:30pm at the Berkeley Free Clinic (2339 Durant Ave):
- August 18th, 2014
- September 15th, 2014
- October 20th, 2014
No medical experience is necessary to volunteer at the Clinic. Requirements do include a commitment to the struggle for free, accessible healthcare and health education, to community empowerment and unification, and to eliminating racism, sexism, classism, and homophobia.
In most cases, volunteers are asked to make a minimum one-year commitment following training.
If you are a medical professional interested in volunteering your services, please contact us at email@example.com or (510) 548-2570.
The Peer Counseling Collective (PCC) The Peer Counseling Collective of the Berkeley Free Clinic is currently accepting applications!
The Peer Counseling Collective (PCC) offers free drop-in and long-term counseling. Our counseling model is based on that of Carl Rogers and is client-centered, emphasizing the importance of feeling, listening, empathy, and unconditional positive regard.
We are currently accepting applications until July 25, 2014 for a training that will begin on Thursday September 18, 2014. Our training has the reputation of being a self-exploratory learning experience that prepares its trainees well for counseling in a community-centered health model. Training lasts six months and takes place on Thursday evenings and Sundays. The ability to make a one-year commitment after training is required to volunteer within the PCC.
To Apply you must fill out an application and attend one of the following info sessions:
- Sunday, June 29, 11-1pm
- Thursday, July 10, 7-9pm
- Thurday, July 24, 7-9pm
The Funding section accepts volunteers on a rolling basis. Please attend an All-Clinic Orientation and talk with us about your interests. No experience is necessary. In exchange for your time, you will learn new skills such as grant writing, program evaluation, event planning, and media relations, all while participating in a meaningful volunteer experience.
