All services at the Berkeley Free Clinic are provided by volunteers. Training is done at the clinic or by volunteer professionals. Each year, an estimated 180 people donate approximately 31,000 volunteer hours doing direct client service, administration, fundraising, building maintenance, trainings, and more.
If you would like to volunteer, or would like more information, come to a Volunteer Orientation held on the third Monday of every month at 7:30pm. The next Volunteer Orientations will occur on the following Mondays at 7:30pm at the Berkeley Free Clinic (2339 Durant Ave):
- September 15th, 2014
- October 20th, 2014
- November 17th, 2014
No medical experience is necessary to volunteer at the Clinic. Requirements do include a commitment to the struggle for free, accessible healthcare and health education, to community empowerment and unification, and to eliminating racism, sexism, classism, and homophobia.
In most cases, volunteers are asked to make a minimum one-year commitment following training.
If you are a medical professional interested in volunteering your services, please contact us at email@example.com or (510) 548-2570.
The volunteer application period for the Peer Counseling Collective (PCC) has ended. Stay tuned for information on next year's training cycle!
The Funding section accepts volunteers on a rolling basis. Please attend an All-Clinic Orientation and talk with us about your interests. No experience is necessary. We do require time commitment and dedication to providing non-profit health care. In exchange for your time, you will learn new skills such as grant writing, program evaluation, event planning, and media relations, all while participating in a meaningful volunteer experience.
The Dental Section is currently looking for new dentists and registered hygienists.
