If you are interested in getting involved as a dental assistant volunteer, please fill out the volunteer interest form to be notified via email when the application opens. Applications usually open in early June and close in early September.
Professional Dentists and Registered Hygienists Looking to Volunteer
If you are interested in giving back to your community while also having an opportunity to hone your skills, practicing at the Berkeley Free Clinic Dental Section may be for you. The clinic is open during the evening on weekdays and has an extremely flexible schedule. Whether coming in one night a month or twice a week, the volunteers at the clinic are more than willing to work with you and your schedule. All that is required to become a volunteer dentist or a hygienist at the clinic is to be licensed in the state of California; malpractice insurance is covered by the clinic. We are sufficiently stocked, staged, and staffed to perform most general dentistry procedures that we offer which range from dental examinations to extractions. Daniel Nam, DDS – Director of Dental Services
Dr. Daniel Nam is a graduate of the University of the Pacific in San Francisco. He has made a happy home of the Bay Area, and has worked hard to expand the scope of services at the Berkeley Free Clinic (in conjunction with the Suitcase Clinic) during the eight years he has been with this organization. He can proudly say that patients can now receive comprehensive care, in large part due to his tremendous effort.
